Have a Wicked Halloween!

It's almost 7 p.m. where I am and so far no trick-or-treaters.  Maybe they're getting scared off because my dogs bark when they think someone is walking by the house...I suppose they might sound scary if you don't know them.  If I opened they door, they'd be all like "Yay, people!  Come pet us!"  They're silly, but I love them.

So, happy Halloween!  Thanks for stopping by : )

Supplies:
Stamps:  Wicked Cool

Early Sighting of Rudolph

Is it sad that I keep track of the days of the week sometimes by what challenges are posted?  I've been doing the Splitcoast color challenges for so long that color challenges are automatically linked to Tuesdays.  So here's my card for today's Splitcoast color challenge, to use Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, and Old Olive:

Yeah, there's an old stamp set!  I think this was from the first year or two I started stamping?  I think the stamp set was in my mind because I'd just used it for a baby book layout.  I was looking through my old card photos and saw a bunch with the Flannel Plaid background so I had to break that out too.  Just makes me feel cozy to look at it.

These colors were straight out of the Jolly Holiday DSP that we had a while back...umm yeah, I can't remember what year it's from.  I was putting together my card and thought it desperately needed some ribbon but somehow I am out of Cherry Cobbler seam binding (I don't know why it can't self-replicate after I buy it so I *always* have it no matter how much I use it, is that too much to ask?) but happy day, I found this quilted satin from holiday mini catalogs past and it works.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies (all SU, but a bunch of them are retired):
Stamps:  Reindeer Print, Flannel Plaid, Fancy Flexible Phrases
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Jolly Holiday DSP
Accessories:  Cherry Cobbler quilted satin ribbon, pearl, Curly Label punch

Thanks is for Giving

Just another Manic Monday!  (I'm a big time Bangles fan.)  Got lots to do this cloudy Monday but I did manage to get a card made today.

I make a lot of cookies for care packages, so this will go in a care package to be sent off next month.  I think I should have gotten the leaves a teeny bit closer to the top of the sentiment stamp, but too late now.  I sponged some Pool Party ink over the entire panel to tone down the Vanilla a bit, and then sponged More Mustard around the edges.  A bit of baker's twine and this card was done!  Love the Spice Cake papers and I need to do something about my giant stash of retired DSP :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies (all SU):
Stamps:  Gently Falling, Seasonal Sayings
Ink:  More Mustard, Early Espresso, Pool Party
Paper:  Spice Cake DSP (retired), More Mustard, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla cardstock
Accessories:  Pool Party baker's twine, Dimensionals

Friday Flashback: Season of Joy

I started Friday Flashbacks on my first blog because I have...more than a few retired stamp sets, and I wanted to challenge myself to use them more often.  So I put all my stamp set names onto little slips of paper and I draw one out and make a card or two with that stamp set.  You can see the previous Flashbacks here.

So for today the stamp set is Season of Joy.  Generally, I'm the type that doesn't like to rush into the holidays; I like to concentrate on Halloween and Thanksgiving before the Christmas stuff takes over the universe.  But we'll let that slide in the interest of breaking out some old stamps :)

First up, this card is from the archives...made this back in 2007.  And somehow that's the only card I  made with this stamp set?!  (Hence the need for Friday Flashbacks.)

And here's my first brand-new card with this set.  I saw the layout on a blog somewhere and jotted down the sketch, I think it was from the Friday Mash-Up?  Aha!  I found the original challenge. This was one of those rare cards that turned out pretty much exactly the way I saw it in my head.  Lee really liked it, he asked if it was going to be our Christmas card this year.  The answer is no, in no small part because I am hoarding that Frosty Day DSP :)

Here's my second card, showcasing that fun poinsettia stamp.  I think Dashing was some of the first Christmas DSP I ever got and I've got about a zillion scraps of it, some of which made it onto this card.  I'm on a mission to complete all of the Splitcoast sketch and color challenges (even the ones I don't like so much) and this is a combo challenge card.  I paired the old retired set with a new greeting from More Merry Messages.

And here's my last card for this Flashback.  I saw the color combination in my list of color challenges I hadn't done yet and thought it would be fun for a less traditional holiday card.  And I do like how it turned out.  It's hard to see but I stamped the larger flowers in white ink on the pink cardstock, then the smaller one in pink.  I sponged some pink ink on the edges of the Christmas tree mat to make it stand out a little against the pink panel, and I sponged some on top of the word panel to tone down the white a bit so as not to compete with the Christmas tree panel.  I think that word panel gives the impression that it was a word jumble wheel or something, but it's just the regular stamp cropped close.  Kind of like having Christmas carols playing in the background!

I'll have all the supply lists for these cards in my Splitcoast gallery; I don't mind posting them in two places when it's one card at a time, but this is four cards and I've got to get my little girl dog to the vet in 15 minutes.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoyed this Friday Flashback!

Seashell Happiness

Hi and welcome to my brand new (as in, just started this morning) stamping blog!  I've been blogging for over four years now but just recently decided to have a blog dedicated to stamping and let my first blog, Snapdragon, be more for personal photos and stuff for my parents to look at :)  I'm hoping to get my sweetie pie to design a banner for this blog, he also did the first one.

So on to the stamping!  Today's card is for two challenges, Retro Sketches 34 and Just Add Ink 141.

Here's my take on the challenges:

Love the CAS design of this sketch and I was thinking just this morning that it had been too long since I used Wisteria Wonder.  When I saw the JAI challenge, I knew it was just meant to be :)  The shell is cut out and popped up on Dimensionals; I added the Crumb Cake brad to balance out the width of the shell.  By the Seashore is most definitely my most-used set that debuted in this year's SU catalog; you can see a bunch of other cards I've made with it here.  Thanks for coming to visit me!

Supplies (all SU):
Stamps:  By the Seashore, Fabulous Phrases
Ink:  Crumb Cake, Wisteria Wonder
Paper:  In Color DSP Stack, Very Vanilla cardstock
Accessories:  Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon, Neutrals brads, scallop edge punch
